My definition of e-learning is adopted from Cedefop (2002). E-learning in the context of my study is defined as learning that is supported by Information and Communication Technology (ICT). For the purpose of my study, ICT refers to computers, CD-ROM, internet, sattelite TV, or any other electronic or interactive media.

Literature review of E-learning

In recent days technology is wide spread almost every part of the world (Garrison & Anderson, 2003). For this reason, e-learning aims to provide the opportunity to distance learner who can not learn face to face from teacher (Littlejohn & Pegler, 2007), In contrast, it is suitable for graduate students in kind of intrinsic motivation than undergraduate students (Rovai, Ponton, Wighting & Baker 2007). Some example of definition of e-learning is to assessing learning through a way in which use of computer (Clark & Mayer, 2006; Horton, 2006). Moreover, Remenyi stated that, e-learning is one of tool for training the learners in the classroom (2007).

The definition of e-learning are various and still have no certain meaning. Stockley (2003) stated that e-learning is about using a computer or electronic device, and in another way is to provide educational, studying and teaching material. Zine (2004) said “The use of network technologies to create, foster, deliver, and facilitate learning, anytime and anywhere.” Moreover the University of Oxford has defined the meaning of e learning that it is the way that we can deliver, enable and mediate services by ICT for delivering education, services and technology that help to create the activities. Also Hambrecht (2002) and Kaplan-Leiserso’s online glossary mentioned that e-learning is covering the wide set of ICT which includes digital collaboration and networking, computer based learning, web-based learning , and virtual classrooms. In addition, Rosenberg (2001) said that e-learning is the way we use the new multimedia technologies and internet to enhance the learning quality by using the resources, long distance and services to exchange and cooperate.

In conclusion, e-learning in our understanding is the use of computer and technologies in teaching and learning process by self access from long distance.
