E-learning includes all systems of electronically sustained learning and teaching . The Information and communication methods , both network and no-web, serve as special media to perform the learning process. The term will most probably be used to reference out-of-classroom and in-classroom educational experiences via technology, even as advances continue in devices and curriculum.

E-learning is regularly set to distance learning and flexible learning, but can also be used in association with face-to-face teaching, in which case the term Blended learning is naturally used. E-Learning inventor Bernard Luskin argues that the "E" must be known to have broad meaning if e-Learning is to be capable. Luskin says that the "e" should be translated to mean exciting, energetic, enthusiastic, emotional, extended, excellent, and educational "electronic" that is a traditional national interpretation. This broader translation accords for 21st century applications and brings learning and media psychology equally.
